NaDCAS Practice Development Guild Welcomes Mindful Care Training and Consultancy

The National Dementia Care Accreditation Scheme (NaDCAS) has introduced its new Practice Development Guild, an initiative designed to strengthen dementia care through shared knowledge, collaboration and continuous improvement. We’re delighted to welcome Mindful Care Training and Consultancy as its newest member and share a bit more about what this means.

About the NaDCAS Practice Development Guild

The Guild brings together organisations and individuals who share a commitment to improving the lives of people living with dementia through learning, collaboration and the development of good practice. Its members bring specialist knowledge and experience across care homes, home care, live-in care and community services, helping care teams strengthen their approach and deliver more meaningful, person-centred support.

At the heart of the Guild is a shared belief that exceptional dementia care develops through continuous learning, compassionate relationships and positive care cultures. Its charter places particular emphasis on dignity, meaningful living and approaches that recognise each person's individuality, preferences and potential. By creating opportunities to exchange knowledge, share experience and encourage evidence-informed practice, the Guild aims to support the continued development of dementia care across the sector.

Welcoming Mindful Care Training and Consultancy

Working with organisations across the UK, Mindful Care Training and Consultancy supports care homes, NHS services, social care providers and community organisations to strengthen dementia care through tailored training, coaching and practice development. Bringing together expertise in dementia care, occupational therapy, nursing, leadership and emotional wellbeing, the team delivers training on subjects including communication, distress, meaningful occupation, Montessori approaches, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and Namaste Care. Its wider support includes on-site coaching, environmental audits, leadership development and dementia strategy, helping teams translate learning into everyday practice.

With an occupational therapy perspective at the heart of its work, Mindful Care focuses on what matters to each person, supporting independence, purpose, participation and wellbeing while helping care teams feel equipped and supported in their roles.

A shared commitment to better dementia care

Commenting on joining the Guild, @Kate Thubron, Director of Mindful Care Training and Consultancy, said:

“We’re pleased to be part of the NaDCAS Practice Development Guild and to be recognised alongside others committed to improving dementia care. It gives us the chance to connect with people who share our values, exchange ideas and work together. Through the Guild, we hope to strengthen dementia practice across health and social care, while supporting the teams who care for people living with dementia every day.”

Welcoming Mindful Care Training and Consultancy reflects the Guild's commitment to bringing together people and organisations whose expertise can help strengthen dementia practice. By sharing knowledge and learning from one another, members can contribute to a care sector where compassionate, person-centred approaches are supported and sustained in everyday life.

Although the Guild’s practice development work is separate from NaDCAS’s independent assessment and accreditation processes, its purpose complements NaDCAS's wider mission to support and recognise exceptional dementia care.
